COVID-19 Testing

Student Health Services

Student Health Services provides COVID-19 testing for students, faculty, and staff who are symptomatic or have been identified as a close-contact. SHS offers COVID-19 rapid, molecular point-of-care testing with test results provided during the appointment. SHS also has a partnership with LabCorp for off-site testing for COVID-19, Nucleic Acid Amplification (test results in 2-4 days). Specimen collection for both types of tests is a swab of the nasal turbinates.

To make an appointment, visit the Student Health Services webpage or call 843-349-6543. SHS clinical staff reports all COVID-19 positive cases to SCDHEC and the COVID-19 Call Center to initiate contact tracing and case management activities.

CMC COVID-19 Testing Clinic on Campus

Coastal Carolina University has partnered with Conway Medical Center (CMC) to offer free COVID-19 rapid-result antigen testing in the Lib Jackson Student Union Commuter Lounge (Room#A107). COVID-19 testing is only available to current students and employees who are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (asymptomatic).

Students and employees who chose the 7-day quarantine option and require a COVID-19 test on the fifth day can take advantage of this on-campus resource. This testing opportunity also offers a convenient option for those who need a COVID-19 test for travel preparation or simply for peace of mind.

The CMC COVID-19 Testing Clinic is open 7-days a week. This is a walk-in clinic only. Appointments cannot be made. Students and employees must present their CCU ID when registering on-site.

CMC COVID-19 Testing Clinic Hours

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.

The COVID-19 rapid-result antigen test checks for active SARSCOV-2 virus. CMC clinical staff utilizes a shallow nasal swab for sample collection. Test results are available in about 20 minutes for those who wait on-site. Test results can also be accessed on the CMC Care App for those who don’t have time to wait for their results.

The SC Department of Environmental Health and Control (SCDHEC) hosts many free COVID-19 community testing sites throughout the state for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. The closest drive-thru testing site is located in the parking lot behind Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) adjacent to campus. To find a free testing site near you, visit SCHED’s COVID-19 Testing Locations website and check the ‘free testing’ box in the search fields.
