Once you have confirmed your necessary logistics, it is time to focus on the engaging aspects of your event.
Coastal Carolina University has a wide variety of internal music, spirit, and entertainment groups to enhance any event.

Ambassadors and Hosts:

Student Government Association (SGA) provides Coastal Carolina University students with representation, services, and advocacy within the Coastal Carolina University community. The SGA serves as the voice of the students and acts as a conduit between the students, administration, faculty, and the alumni. Wall Fellows are a selective group of CCU students who have been chosen to go through a two-year program that provides the students with one-on-one career and personal coaching to prepare them for their designated career. The Wall Fellows serve the University and local communities through work with various organizations, including hosting visiting dignitaries and working at community development events on behalf of the University. Ambassador Tips:
- Before the event, introduce yourself, give a quick rundown of the duties expected, and let them know you are available if they have any questions.
- Be specific and clear with instructions and provide as much information as possible, including the desired attire to be worn at the event.
- On the day of the event, instruct them to arrive early to run through the event and expectations.
- Communicate about who is attending the event and what are the topics being discussed.
- It is important to thank the ambassadors after the event. Sending a personalized thank you note, or email is an easy and thoughtful gesture.
Student Musical Groups:
String Ensemble repertoire will include chamber works of Boccherini, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Faure, Brahms, Schubert, and many others. To reserve the String Ensemble contact Stevie Martinez at 843-349-2637 or sjmartin@coastal.edu.
Guitar Ensemble performs a variety of styles ranging from the Renaissance period to modern and contemporary music. Recent performances have included traditional folk song arrangements, Bach, Beethoven, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson. The Saxophone Ensemble ranges in size from three to fifteen players and performs both transcriptions and original works in classical, jazz and popular music genres. The saxophone ensemble literature includes a vast array of master works and is the saxophonist’s definitive chamber music experience. The Coastal Flute Choir is a voluntary organization dedicated to the cultural and musical enrichment of the Grand Strand and its surrounding communities. A flute choir is a musical ensemble composed entirely of flutes. The Coastal Carolina Choir includes five members of the flute family (piccolo, Eb flute, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute). The musical selections from this extensive repertoire are tailored specifically to each function or concert at which this ensemble performs. Requests for special performances/repertoire can also be arranged, with adequate advanced notice. Performances by smaller ensembles (trios, quartets, for example) are held throughout the school year. The Acoustic Songbook is an ensemble that specializes in performing popular songs with small groups of singers and instrumentalists in an unplugged format. Performances feature the genres of pop, Americana, jazz,m country, folk music, gospel, singer-songwriters, British popular genres, Latin American, and Brazilian music. Concert Choir is a large vocal ensemble that performs music from all over the world, as well as American jazz and contemporary/popular music, often with other musical ensembles from the University and the Grand Strand community. Coastal Carolina University Spirit Representatives:
CCU Cheerleaders: In addition to games, the cheerleaders participate in tournaments, championships, and numerous appearances throughout the community and on campus. Contact head cheerleading coach David Almeida at 843-349-2321 or dalmeida@coastal.edu.
Coastal Carolina Dance Team: In addition to representing Coastal Carolina at athletic events, CCU Dancers can be seen at numerous events in the community and corporate events throughout the season. Contact Marla Sage at msage@coastal.edu.
Chauncey: Chauncey is the famous and beloved mascot at Coastal Carolina. When available, Chauncey makes public appearances for community and private parties upon request for Conway and the surrounding areas.
