Academic Coaching Experience
Meet the Staff
Alexa Cecil, M.A. I joined the Academic Coaching Department in summer 2018. A West Virginia native, I earned my B.A. in English & Psychology from Marshall University and my M.A. in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Higher Education Administration. An avid Harry Potter fan and binge watcher of Gilmore Girls and Friends, I enjoy spending time with my husband and rescue pup, Fletcher, and I’m always up for a coffee break. I love to visit new places and hope to travel more once I finish my degree. “It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities” – Albus Dumbledore

![]() Angela Dembiczak, M.A. Academic Coaching Specialist Originally from New England, I graduated from Coastal with a degree in History and minor in Political Science. I completed a Master’s in History through the joint program at the College of Charleston and The Citadel, and another in Central and Eastern European Studies at La Salle University. I briefly worked in the intelligence field before returning to Coastal in 2013 as an adjunct History professor. I joined the ACED team in Fall 2018. I enjoy a variety of movies, tv shows, books, and podcasts although I tend to lean towards horror, true crime, and history. I love to travel and hope to see as much of the world as I can! Food may be my greatest passion (don't tell my husband). I enjoy cooking, baking, and, most importantly, eating! |
I made the career shift from teaching English to academic coaching when I joined the Academic Coaching Department in the summer of 2018. I earned my B.A. from Southwest Minnesota State University, my M.A. from Iowa State University, and my Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, all in English. I worked as a Teaching Assistant at CCU for two years before becoming an Academic Coach. Originally from the Upper Midwest, I moved to South Carolina in 2016. My husband, son, and I love spending time at the beach and Brookgreen Garden. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and board games.
