Sustainable Transportation

During in-semester breaks and during holiday breaks, the Campus Shuttle departs for Myrtle Beach International Airport every hour from the Main Shuttle stop by the Lib Jackson Student Union. The Amtrak Shuttle departs from the Student Union Station at 9 a.m. You can also take a taxi to either destination; some companies offer a CCU discount. Please call ahead and show your CCU ID. Monday through Friday, the shuttle runs approximately every 30 minutes to the Walmart Plaza at Myrtle Ridge Drive between 3 p.m. & 11 p.m. The last pick-up at Walmart is at 10:30 p.m. On the weekends and during student holidays, the shuttle runs approximately every 20 to 30 minutes to multiple stops through campus, including the Walmart Plaza at Myrtle Ridge Drive, from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The last pick-up at Walmart is 10:30 p.m.

You may utilize a taxi, off-campus ride-sharing services such as Uber or Lyft, or the Coast RTA shuttle service. To access the Coast RTA shuttle route, visit: coastridetracker.com. 

Teal Mobile is an on-demand rideshare service, like Uber and Lyft, which allows students, faculty, and staff to travel to a 1.5-mile radius from campus, for locations that are not in the CCU shuttle route. Ride requests are available at no cost through the Student Government Association-initiated transportation fee, which provides funding for student parking, shuttle servies, and parking lot maintenance. You can borrow a bicycle from the CCU Coastal Cycles program for free for up to 30 days at a time. Please bring your CCU ID to the Outdoor Center at the HTC Center. After 30 days, we ask that you return the bicycle so our bike techs can inspect the bike and keep it in good working condition. You can always borrow another one, if one is avaialable at that time. 

The bike techs at the Outdoor Center at the HTC Center can repair your bike for free, you just have to pay for any necessary parts. You can also use the Bike Fix-It Stations located outside the HTC Center and the University Place Activity House. 

Assisting motorists on campus is a service of the Department of Public Safety. The DPS will load jumper cables or an enclosed battery jumper, unlock car doors, help with flat tires, or loan a gas can. To request assistance, call the Public Safety office at 843-349-2177, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

If you would like someone to go with you to your vehicle or between buildings on the main campus, please call 843-349-2177 and request a Chauncey Patrol office to escort you safely to your destination.
