Sustainable Transportation

CCU is a pedestrian friendly campus, designed to encourage the use of sustainable transportation options such as walking or biking. The use of sustainable transportation can reduce parking demands, save time and money, ensure pedestrian safety, promote healthy lifestyles, and help create a cleaner environment.

In addition to being a walkable campus, Coastal Carolina University offers the following sustainable transportation options included in each student's tuition package:

Biking

Bicycles are an easy and affordable way to get around campus, especially with convenient bicycle parking at every building, designated biking lanes on Chanticleer Drive, and bike racks on all CCU shuttles. University Recreation offers a free bicycle borrowing program called Coastal Cycles at the HTC Center's Outdoor Center, where you can rent a bicycle for free for 30 days with your student ID. If you are bringing your own bicycle, please register it with Public Safety.

Campus Shuttle and Teal Mobile

The Campus Shuttle offers a shuttle service between the main campus, University Place, east campus, and local areas.

Teal Mobile offers an on-demand rideshare service to CCU students, faculty, and staff, and operates within 1.5 miles of the main campus. Teal Mobile should be utilized for travel to locations near campus that are not in the Campus Shuttle route.

Both services are operated by CCU Transportation Services and are accessible through the CCU Transportation app, TransLoc. These services are included in each student's tuition package, through the Student Government Association-initiated transportation fee, and are available to use for no additional cost.

Commuter Parking

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the outskirts of campus to encourage the use of sustainable transportation options. Commuter students are encouraged to park at the YY Lot, off Highway 544, and utilize the Park and Ride shuttle service that provides tranportation to main campus. All vehicles (including motorcycles, mopeds, and motor scooters) must be registered with the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Parking decals are included in each student's tuition package and available at no additional cost. You may apply for a parking decal online at coastal.edu/transportation. Please note that it is the responsibility of students, faculty, and staff to read and abide by the Traffic and Parking Regulations.
