Weigh the Waste

  • To be announced

In partnership with CCU Food Crew, Weigh the Waste is a monthly event hosted by Sustain Coastal at Hicks Dining Hall to educate students, faculty, and staff about the impacts of food waste in our dining halls and what we’re doing to make dining more sustainable on campus; through food waste composting, responsible sourcing of food products, reducing single-use plastics, and more!

Did You Know? At CCU we compost food waste from nearly every dining hall on campus! Since 2015, we've composted over 400 tons of food waste from campus dining halls.

You can help reduce waste by:

  • Being vocal about the amount of food you want and ask for a sample size (when possible) to “try before you buy.”
  • Considering how much food you will actually eat versus how much will be left on the plate.
  • Bringing your sustainability kit to take your meal to go; save leftovers for later!
