College Level Exam Program (CLEP)

College Level Exam Program (CLEP) is a system of college credit by examination, sponsored by the College Board, which allows students to take an online test and receive college credit for various courses.  To take your CLEP at the Academic Testing Center, please follow these steps:

1)    CCU STUDENTS ONLY! If you are not a CCU student, please proceed with step 2 below.  You must first determine if you are elibible to take the CLEP for CCU credit by reading the CCU CLEP brochure.  If you are eligible, then you must get your Dean’s approval to take your CLEP:  Print the CLEP Exam Approval Form, then submit the completed form to your Dean’s office.  Your Dean will review the request, then notify the Academic Testing Center (ATC) if you are approved. The ATC will then notify you by email that you can proceed with the CLEP exam registration process below. Do not purchase your CLEP exam until you receive confirmation from the ATC that your Dean has approved your request! Your Dean's approval is valid for 6 months.

2)    Register with CLEP.  You will pay the CLEP exam fee, select your exam and score recipient, and receive a ticket number.

3)    Register with CCU to have your exam administered. CCU’s registration fee is $40 (non-refundable).   Once you make your payment to CCU, you will receive an email from ATC with scheduling instructions.  You must schedule your appointment within 6 months of making your CCU CLEP registration fee.

DSST Credit by Exam Program

DSST Credit by Exam Program allows you to receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom.

Coastal Carolina University does not currently award credit for DSST, but the ATC is an open testing facility and administers these tests for students of other institutions.

To take the test, you must first register with CCU. CCU’s registration fee is $40 (non-refundable). Then pay an online fee of $85 to DSST on test day.

Once the payment/registration is received, you will receive an email from the ATC to schedule an appointment.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is a computer-based test utilized by graduate programs to assess qualifications for advanced study in business and management.

GRE

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE®) measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.

Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level test of analytical ability that requires the solution of problems stated as analogies. The MAT consists of 120 partial analogies that you have 60 minutes to complete.

To take the test, you must first register with CCU. CCU’s registration fee is $90 (non-refundable).

Once the payment/registration is received, you will receive an email from the ATC to schedule an appointment.

ParaPro Assessment

The ParaPro Assessment measures the reading, writing and basic math competencies of practicing and prospective paraprofessionals. In accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act, the ParaPro Assessment can be used to certify teacher’s aides and assistants in the instruction of these subjects to school children.

To take the test, you must first register with CCU. CCU’s registration fee is $100 (non-refundable).

Once the payment/registration is received, you will receive an email from the ATC to schedule an appointment.

Praxis

Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) tests measure academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. These tests were designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs.

Praxis: Subject Assessments measure knowledge of specific subjects that K-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge.

Please note: Not all PRAXIS exams are offered during each testing window.
