Clare Barron's Dance Nation, winner of the 2017 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and finalist fo the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, is a musical fueled by teenage angst.  Set in a small-town Ohio, the play features a competitive middle school dance team whose female members experience the emotional extremes of adolescence as they contend with themselves and one another to reach their goal: acceptence to the Boogie Down Grand Prix in Tampa Bay.

The CCU Department of Theatre presents Bright Star, a new work with a country and bluegrass score from Academy Award-winner Steve Martin and Grammy-winner Edie Brickell. Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and 40s, directed by Adam Pelty,  associate professor in the Department of Theatre.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the story follows Alice Murphy, a literary editor set on defining her own story and uncovering her past.

The Crucible

The CCU Department of Theatre presents Arthur Miller's classic drama The Crucible, under the direction of John Woodson, Artist in Residence. This student-led performance will transport the audience to the Puritan world of 1692 Massachusetts, where Abigail Willaims and her cohort of girlfriends lead a puritanical assault against a local farmer and her wife.  Deep-seated jealousy and seething resentments pit neighbor against neighbor as a community is thrown into turmoil while accusations of witchcraft stain the people in paranoia.

A World Premiere!
PUTT PUTT is a new play written around the zen of playing putt putt in Myrtle Beach. A mixture of drama, circus, comedy, and windmills with plenty of kitsch and nostalgia to spare. Many of our most memorable and truthful moments are experienced when we're having the most fun, and PUTT PUTT celebrates all of the highs and lows, along with the wonders of sentience. Created by the students in the Department of Theatre.

Legally Blonde

A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde the Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.  Action packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!
