Design & Technology
Bachelor of Fine Arts
The B.F.A. in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Design and Technology prepares you for a professional career as a theater designer, artisan, stage manager or technician. This intensive program of theater studies involves a high degree of specialization and offers a balance of class work and contribution through production; you will gain a thorough understanding of the theatrical process as it relates to the various areas of design and production.
What You'll Study
The design and production program provides you with an intensive, hands-on experience through a four-year sequence of courses in design, theater technology, script analysis and visual arts. Demanding class work is combined with a variety of practical production experiences.
The costume, scenic and paint studios are state-of-the-art facilities with several thousand square feet dedicated to production and training in areas ranging from basic drawing to exploration of scenic, lighting and costume design for theatrical production.
Intense mentorship is a key component for the growth of the student designer, and CCU mentors are provided for every production “role” you’ll take on in this program. All students are evaluated annually and must meet professional standards to achieve the B.F.A. Design and Technology degree.
