Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

ENGR 101 is designed to be an introductory course to the framework of engineering and engineering design. A student who has already received an associates degree in one of the listed disciplines will have been exposed to many of the concepts taught in ENGR 101 through the courses in that degree. By waiving the requirement for these students, it allows them to more quickly enter more advanced courses at CCU and without having to repeat concepts they already know. Additionally, one of the goals that ABET, our accrediting body, has is to make it easier for engineering students to transfer from one institution to another. This change would also be in that spirit.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

The enrollment in ENGR 101 will be decreased by the number of transfer students who already have their Associates degree. This is anticipated to be a small number, so it will not affect the teaching of ENGR 101 in any significant way.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None.

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

No teaching loads will change and no resources are required.
