What research has led to this request?

No research was conducted. The course is being handed to a new faculty member after a retirement and the goal is to introduce more current and useful examples and techniques into the course. Additionally, the change in credit hours is to reflect an increased emphasis on the lecture portion of the course.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

There will be no impact on any existing academic programs

What financial costs are associated with this request?

This is a catalog and credit hour change and will require no additional resources. The reduction in laboratory contact hours should decrease costs be reducing chemical consumption and waste generation which will be a net decrease in cost.
