Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

This course would make use of existing expertise within the History Department. It would be the first survey course to cover the entire Twentieth Century and the only course to cover the post-WWII era. Demand is assured as Prof. Whalen's upper-level coursers are always over-enrolled.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This course will provide an attractive elective for history majors, history minors, and any undergraduate student interested learning about modern history and European studies. It can also support the European Studies Minor.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

none

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

Course will be taught in faculty load, as many of the proposing faculty's existing courses have been absorbed into other faculty course rotations.
