Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

MSCI 457 (Marine zooplankton) has not been offered in at least 10 to 15 years. It was developed by a now-retired faculty member and apparently taught sporadically while he was in residence in the 1990s and early 2000s. The content formerly included in MSCI 457 is currently collectively covered in Introduction to marine science (MSCI 111 and MSCI 111L), Marine biology (MSCI 302 and MSCI 302L), Marine plankton (MSCI 476/476L), and Marine invertebrate zoology (MSCI 478 and MSCI 478L; all of which are taught at least once each academic year.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

We do not anticipate any impact on the B.S. in Marine Science because the MSCI 457 content is covered in other current courses.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None.

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

No changes in course content, delivery, or staffing are proposed.
