HIST 456- Genocide in Comparative Perspective (3 credits) A study of genocide as a global phenomenon in comparative perspective. Students examine some of the theoretical and definitional issues that genocide poses and explore case studies chosen by the instructor. Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

This course was taught as a History special topics course in Fall 2019 with great success. Student evaluations strongly recommended teaching this course again. The instructor has taken time to speak to colleagues outside of CCU who have expertise in comparative areas in order to discuss relevant readings and assignments for this course.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This will be a boon to our Caribbean and Latin American Studies Minor and it supports the History Major, as it will be counted towards required credit hours of courses at the 300-level or above.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

This instructor has already taught this course and it would be a course taught in the normal faculty load.
