Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

We had several students take a geography class that has no lab. Since geography is accepted as a science, t loads that way in Program Evaluation -- but lacks the lab. This causes confusion for students who thought it would be OK. Working with the Registrar, they suggested the language change for all four sociology major tracks.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

No negative, it will help students understand and move through the program.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None. It's just a clarification of wording. The program itself is unchanged.

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

Just clarifying language, no other change to the program.

Any additional information

This proposed change was instigated by the Registrar as ti was a barrier to graduation for a few students. They suggested what language would best work to rectify the problem.
