EDPE 411 Q - Middle School Physical Education Pedagogy (4 credits) (Prereq: Admission to the Professional Program in Teacher Education and EDPE 410) (Coreq: EDPE 304) Foundations and practices in teaching middle school physical education. Course studies the development and assessment of motor and fitness skills for early adolescent students, curriculum development, and planning and implementing instruction at the middle school level. The teacher candidate also develops pedagogical skills through self-assessments and the required 30 hour field experience in the middle schools. S.

Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

There has been a drop in number of students in the pre-professional program (from Freshman to Sophomore years). By offering EDPE 304 earlier for students in the pre-professional physical education program, we hope to retain more students from Freshman to Sophomore years. Additionally, any student will be able to take this course. For this reason, the "coreq: EDPE 304" currently in EDPE 411 must be removed.
