Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

This course provides students another offering in the growing field of Public History. This course could be considered in the Cultural Heritage Certificate program, and will appeal to history majors and minors, as well as those in other related fields. The course is directly related to a junior faculty member's research and field, and students routinely request more courses in public history.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

Could be counted as a World or Trans-regional course for the History major or minor, Provide students with another trans-regional upper division history course, another opportunity for students to meet requirements for the Cultural Heritage Certificate, and another opportunity for students to learn about the field of public history as related to specific events or topics

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None.

Rotation within existing faculty schedule; alternate with HIST395: Introduction to Public History or HIST392: Museums and Communities in the schedule
