Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

Each engineering science student must choose a concentration, which consists of four courses, typically upper level. Currently, the engineering science program only offers a single concentration: the physics concentration. Surveys of freshmen engineering majors have revealed that civil engineering is a discipline that many students are interested in pursuing. Therefore, the department wishes to add a civil concentration as a new concentration option. This course will serve as one of the four courses in the civil concentration.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This course, along with 3 other courses, ENGR 365, ENGR 370, and ENGR 470, will make up the new civil concentration for the engineering science program.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

This course will be taught by a faculty member and will count toward their normal teaching load. There will be no additional costs.
