Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

See the attached CHE notification of termination form. Very few students completed the certificate, and none none are enrolled currently, and with the new SACS requirement of stand-alone assessment for certificates, the department sees no need to continue offering the certificate.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

None. We'll still have the courses that served the certificate (i.e., all of the PHIL courses in applied ethics).

What financial costs are associated with this request?

None.

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

The certificate was offered within existing course offerings and faculty loads. Losing the certificate won't have an impact.
