SCCITL is pleased to announce our keynote speaker for the 2021 conference, Kevin Gannon.
Kevin Gannon is the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Professor of History at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the author of Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto, published in April 2020, as part of the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education series from West Virginia University Press. He is a regular contributor to the Chronicle of Higher Education, and his work has also appeared in outlets such as Vox, CNN, and The Washington Post. Gannon has ties to South Carolina, receiving his PhD in history, and teaching as a graduate instructor at the University of South Carolina followed by teaching as an adjunct instructor at Midlands Technical College and Columbia College. He is delighted to return to South Carolina and engage with higher education faculty, staff, students, librarians, and administrators as he will address current issues that face our field, such as race, diversity, critical pedagogy, and inclusive teaching in both digital and the face-to-face environment.
