#givingTEALtuesday brings on the heat as competition among colleges rises

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, CCU will participate in #GivingTuesday, an international movement to spread philanthropic spirit by donating funds. To put a Chanticleer twist on the occasion, CCU will be celebrating #givingTEALtuesday for the third year, embarking on a new tradition.

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, join #TEALnation as alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends will be coming together to show support for CCU. One hundred percent of all funds raised will support student scholarships. Donors can choose to give to a particular college or to the general endowment.

For the second year, all five colleges are competing against one another to raise the most funds among their faculty, staff and students. The GTT College Challenge Champion trophy will be awarded to the college that has the highest average donation per full-time equivalent for that day.

It will be exciting to see if the Wall College of Business will defend its title as the GTT College Champion, or if this year's honor will go to a different college.

Wall College Dean Barbara Ritter prepares her faculty and staff to defend the title with this thoughtful message:

"Business faculty are well-known for their generous spirits, and we look forward to winning the challenge again this year."

College of Science Dean Michael Roberts has a special message of his own for his faculty and staff:

"...I especially want to encourage all of the faculty in the College of Science to donate as part of the 'Giving Teal Tuesday' initiative. Your participation not only means that we can earn bragging rights over all the other colleges at CCU, this is also an opportunity to directly impact the ability of our students to take advantage of the education opportunities at the University..."

The competition is on! Gifts can be made by visiting coastal.edu/gtt or texting GTT to 41444. Promotional tables staffed by Office for Philanthropy members will be set up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Spadoni Park encouraging faculty, staff and students to give.
