Local 'dawg' shows off his teal spirit

When head football coach David Bennett urged his players to "be a dog," others took notice. Like Adriane Pope, who owns a dog grooming business in Conway.

She transformed her white standard poodle Mr. Logan into a Chanticleer billboard, with Chauncey painted on one side of his torso and a teal football on the other. The dog's eyes were circled with black, and his hair was coiffed into something that looked like a rooster's crown.

It was a memorial to Pope's late brother, Tony Pope, a CCU alumnus who died Dec. 31, 2010, of diabetes. He was 36.

Though Mr. Logan did not place in a recent dog show, folks on the CCU campus enjoyed his visits, particularly Coach Bennett, who asked Pope and her pooch to attend an early morning team meeting to inspire the players.

In addition to "creative grooming," as evidenced by Mr. Logan, Pope does regular grooming at Adriane's Groom 'N' Go, and she also owns Rivertown Bed & Biscuit, a pet accommodation business.
