10 CCU students enjoy Maymester in Florence, Italy

Ten students spent this past Maymester living and learning in Florence, Italy, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.

Studuents lived in apartments throughout the city, which added to the cultural experience, and they attended weekday classes offered by CCU faculty Stephanie Miller (ARTH 325, Art and the City: Florence) and Treelee MacAnn (ARTS 102, Visual Arts and Culture).

Most "classroom" experiences were conducted on-site: in front of Michelangelo's David, in the shadow of Brunelleschi's Dome or in the Medici Palace courtyard. The program also went to Rome and to Siena, and all students and faculty traveled some on the weekend to places such as Fiesole, Pisa, San Gimignano and Venice.

Two CCU faculty members (Teresa Burns and Scott Nelson) also accompanied the Florence program to gain leadership experience in preparation for their classes offered for next year's Maymester in Arezzo, Italy.
