Report from the Rowing Roosters of CCU

Nearly 2,000 people participated in the sixth annual Dragon Boat Festival races at Market Common on April 26. The event benefits Ground Zero, a Christian youth ministry.

Among the participants was an energetic team of CCU employees and a CCU student called the “Rowing Roosters of CCU.”

They were:

Karen Fletcher, pre-award services manager, research, co-captain of the team
Tammy Blouse, dispatcher
Brian Druckenmiller, teaching associate
Bryan Ensel, resident director
Kayla Johnson, student account specialist
David Klauder, law enforcement officer
Morgan Williams, student
Daniel Rabon, accountant/fiscal analyst
Kelly Harer, admissions counselor
Tara Josey, associate cirector, campus recreation

Money raised at the event will be used to help fund the renovation of the old Rivoli Theatre where the ministry is based. The group has been leasing the building from the city since 2011. The theater, which was built in 1958, is located in Myrtle Beach off 9th Avenue North on Chester Street.
