Orientation volunteers needed

Orientation is the most important part of the summer for new freshmen and transfers. Orientation crowds can total 700 people, so faculty and staff volunteers are needed to assist new students and parents throughout their time on campus. Your help is critical in making Orientation a campuswide event and in helping new students make a smooth transition to life at the University.

Volunteers assist with many tasks during Orientation. Typical duties include greeting students and parents at registration, managing traffic at registration and the information fair, answering questions, introducing speakers and keeping sessions running on time, mingling with families at lunch and during breaks, and escorting students and parents to sessions and directing them to other points on campus.

Volunteers must be available to work the full day on which they are scheduled. Freshman sessions run from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Day One and from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Day Two. Transfer sessions are one day and run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. You may choose to work an entire session or only one day of a particular session. Some volunteers help out with all of the sessions.
