Amber Campbell wins national championship

Eugene, Ore. - Amber Campbell, a two-time Olympian, Coastal Carolina Sasser Hall of Fame member and Chanticleer volunteer assistant coach, won the 2015 USA Track & Field championship in the hammer with a throw of 237-5 (72.36 meters).

Campbell wins her ninth national championship (six indoor and three outdoor) and will be representing the United States on its national team for the fifth time at the IAAF World Championships. This year’s world championships will be held August 22-30 in Beijing, China.

A five-time All-American with the Chanticleers and 2004 Coastal Carolina graduate, Campbell won the hammer Saturday afternoon in dramatic fashion. Entering her final throw of the competition, Campbell was in second place and sent her final toss to the winning distance, surpassing Deanna Price's best of 72.30m (237' 2") by just three inches and American record-holder Amanda Bingson’s mark of 231-7.
