Celebrating Feel the Teal

Feel the Teal® has 140 reasons to celebrate! One hundred and forty employees have now completed the Feel the Teal® training modules and they finished strong at the first three Feel the Teal® Celebrations held on Oct. 27, Oct. 30 and Nov. 18 in the Alford Ballroom.

This celebration, the eighth and final module of the Feel the Teal® training program, is a chance for all the employees and departments who attended the previous seven modules to celebrate their accomplishment and have lunch together. My favorite part of the eighth module has been the chance to meet with employees out of their everyday work environment and, in some cases, meet an employee for the first time.

After lunch, the Service SWOT Workshop findings from Module Seven are shared through a report and addressed in an open forum of conversation. Discussion was lively and focused on key issues that affect service here at the University. Issues that elicited the most dialogue were:

1. Communication throughout the University
2. Faculty involvement in Feel the Teal®
3. Expenditure policies with regard to meals
4. Excess paperwork within University processes

Each of these issues were addressed and although some require more work on our part to provide the infrastructure needed to ensure a productive, supportive, student-centered and educational work environment, we are headed in the right direction by having these conversations and celebrations!

This final Feel the Teal® module is indeed a celebration and is fitting of the holiday season upon us.

I wish you and yours a happy holiday season with many reasons to celebrate.

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
