Brooks promoted to associate counsel

Katherine Brooks has been promoted to the position of Associate University Counsel at Coastal Carolina University. . Her duties will include serving as associate chief legal officer of the institution, handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, serving as legal counsel on various CCU committees and more.

She has served the University in the areas of risk management and contract management during the past year and is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). She recently passed the South Carolina Bar Association exam and was sworn in on Nov. 7.

University Counsel Timothy Meacham will be away from Nov. 15 through Nov. 28. During that time, please contact Brooks directly at 843-349-2628 for assistance with any matters involving University Counsel.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology from the University of South Carolina in 2012, graduating cum laude, and a juris doctor from Charleston School of Law in Charleston in 2015. She served as editor-in-chief of The Federal Courts Law Review.

She is adviser for CCU’s Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and a university counsel liaison for several committees and boards.
