Feel the Teal: Continuing your journey

One of the highlights of working in higher education is seeing and celebrating the accomplishments of our students each May during commencement. As educators, we often remind students that graduation is not the end, but rather the beginning of the rest of their lives. As the academic year draws to a close, it is important to remember that, much like a student’s education, that our service excellence never stops.

Since May in higher education is a natural time for reflection, we recently reviewed the number of employees who have completed specific Feel the Teal® training modules. I’d like to share the numbers with the Teal Nation community. You will notice that as the training modules progress, the total number of attendees decreases. I ask that you remember we initially introduced these training sessions over a time period of two years.

Service Basics – 818
Attitude of Service – 785
Civility on Campus – 752
CCU History and Traditions – 727
Assisting with Difficult Situations – 709
Personal Accountability – 699
Service SWOT – 629
Feel the Teal Celebration – 367

I challenge those of you who have not completed all eight modules to do so this summer. I would especially enjoy seeing many of you in the module eight Feel the Teal Celebration. The Office of Training, Development and Service Excellence (TDSE) has a full schedule of these trainings prepared for the summer.

In an effort to be more accessible and accommodating, TDSE has scheduled several Feel the Teal “fast track” sessions this summer. The fast track is a three-hour training that covers three separate modules in a condensed format. I encourage you to take advantage of the summer months and join me in the continuation of your service excellence journey at CCU.

I hope you continue to strive for excellence in all that you do.

Sincerely,
David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
