Feel the Teal: Recognition and reward is coming

In the second training module of Feel the Teal, Attitude of Service, we highlight the following quote from Aristotle: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle reminds us that our service must be genuine and intentional. As CCU employees, we need to remember this quote and be genuinely other-focused.

It is vital that we, as members of Teal Nation, recognize and reward each other for the service excellence we provide to both internal and external customers. This responsibility belongs to all of us, and it is essential to our University’s success. Therefore, a dedicated group of individuals on our Feel the Teal® service excellence task force has been working specifically on employee recognition. This group – Sandy Baldridge-Adrian, April Betsch, Jean Ann Brakefield, Nick DeStefano, Rhett Graham, Susannah Marshman, Mark Mitchell, Kim Sherfesee and Greg Thompson – have proposed a universitywide service excellence recognition program which is forecasted to begin in July.

This program will be called Chauncey Credit, and it allows you the chance to celebrate your fellow employees for their service excellence. Employees can be tangibly rewarded for any of the following reasons related to service:

• Reliability: Provides dependable and honest service by going above and beyond for customers.
• Responsiveness: Offers prompt and efficient service that creates a fast and friendly experience.
• Assurance: Acts knowledgably to listen and creatively solve problems for others.
• Empathy: Demonstrates excellent care and understanding.
• Tangibles: Displays, improves and serves others through professional tangibles in all settings.

The task force has worked diligently to make this program comprehensive, practical and available to all. Should you have questions regarding Chauncey Credit once further details are released, you may contact any of the task force members listed above. Please watch your email for more Chauncey Credit details, along with other recognition and reward initiatives that will be released!

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
