Band Hall renovations nearing completion
by Staff
It's almost time for the sounds of music and learning to echo through the rooms and hallways of the Band Hall once again.
The project is nearing completion, with the building anticipated to be occupied again by the end of November, though minor renovation work may continue past that point.
Electrical closet framing has been completed, and drywall is 99 percent completed and ready for paint. Doors and window frames have been trimmed/framed, and door installation began at the end of October. Ceiling grids and new tiles have been installed in the main lobby, the library, the storage room, and the rear hallway.
The rehearsal room has been painted and vinyl plank flooring has been installed, so that room is ready for painting the first week of November. Flooring will follow the week after that.
On the outside of the building, exterior sheathing has been completed and 10 percent of the Hardie board is installed. Perimeter windows are installed, and a Wegner sound room has a tentative install date of Jan. 13, 2020.
The Coastal Band Hall is the rehearsal space for the majority of the University’s instrumental ensembles. It is home to a large ensemble rehearsal room, a percussion studio, several practice rooms, and the brass, woodwind, and percussion faculty offices. The Chanticleer Regiment dedicated practice field is adjacent to the Coastal Band Hall.
