New employees for October and November
by Caroline P. Rohr
One-third of the new employees who joined Teal Nation in October and November were already members of the teal family, having graduated from the University. This month, we welcome world travelers and Conway natives, runners and video-game lovers, and one with an eclectic taste for foods. Take a few minutes to get to know the newest (or returning) members of the CCU family.
Shanetha Bennett is a correspondence specialist in the Office of Admissions and Merit Awards. She loves reading, writing, and video games, and her favorite food is lasagna. She is originally from Chesterfield, S.C., and says she can play the flute and the trumpet and run really fast!
King E. Brown III is an admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions and Merit Awards. He is originally from Charleston, S.C., and has a twin brother. He enjoys playing basketball, working out, and eating alfredo. He is a CCU alumnus who can play the cello and the guitar.
Deloris A. Duncan is an administrative specialist for the Department of Health Sciences. She enjoys singing, sewing, baking, and crafts. She is also a pastor, and her mother is 94 years old! "I love to laugh," she said, "even at myself!"
Tracy Keller is associate athletics director for student-athlete academic services in the Office of the Provost. Keller loves tacos, sports, and the beach (but not the sand). He has driven across the country twice and has lived in four different states in four years. He is originally from Catfish, N.C.
John King is the CHEPD coordinator and assistant in the Center for Global Engagement. He is originally from Rome, Ga., but has lived overseas for 12 years and traveled to more than 30 countries. He enjoys rock climbing, hiking, playing guitar, traveling, and sailing. He chose CCU because it is "a growing university with great opportunities and vision."
Jason Miller is on the community events staff with Facilities Planning and Management and is originally from Fayetteville, N.C.
Lauren Skipper is a transfer specialist in the Office of Admissions and Merit Awards. She is a CCU psychology graduate who chose to work at her alma mater because of its location. She enjoys painting and watching movies, has a 2-year-old daughter, and is expecting another baby on the way!
Carrie Taylor is the international student services adviser for the Center for Global Engagement. She is originally from Buffalo, N.Y., and enjoys sushi, cooking, and baking. In 2020, she will be a 30-year cancer survivor! She has two dogs, a pitbull named Leia and shih-tzu named Domino.
John Volk is a student computing services consultant with Information Technology Services. He loves pizza, bowling, and "Star Wars," and he is originally from Bemus Point, N.Y. He is a CCU graduate.
Tanja Warren is a student services center program manager in the Center of Excellence in the Spadoni College of Education. She is originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and once owned and operated an all-natural dessert-inspired laundry detergent company. She loves spicy tandoori chicken, rollerblading, and gardening.
Brandi Washell is a survey support specialist in Institutional Research Assessment and Analysis. She is originally from Conway, S.C., and is a proud CCU alumna (exercise and sport science). "My love for teal is real!" she said. She enjoys a good omelette, hiking, running, working out, and spending time with friends.
