What research has led to this request?
ARTH 250 will become a required course for the proposed BFA in Visual Art. Additionally, staffing the required number of courses needed has started to affect the graduation rate of our students. ARTS 297 is no longer needed as we are changing our assessment methodology.
As for the other changes it is a simple restructuring for greater transparency and taking into account that Design now has more faculty. The changes are also to help streamline the potential roll-out of the BFA in Visual Communication Design without affecting the graduation timeline for the BA in Design.
What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?
None. But, this could improve retention as students will have a greater flexibility in the BA design program.
What financial costs are associated with this request?
None
If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?
The costs are already a part of the BFA in Visual Communication Design program and the courses will be taught in rotation, no additional costs are expected for these changes. When the original BA was created there were only two faculty in Design; there are now 5.
