CCU adds splash of teal to global #GivingTuesday movement
Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year's day of giving is Nov. 29.
All members of Teal Nation - alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends -- are invited to come together and support CCU's students. Donations can be made to one or more of the following eight endowed scholarship funds: E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, Spadoni College of Education, Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, College of Science, University College, CCU Alumni Association, Chanticleer athletics and the I'M IN endowment campaign. Endowed funds are one of the most vital sources of funding, as they provide a stable, ongoing source of income to ensure the University provides access to a comprehensive liberal arts education.
On Nov. 29, a special #givingTEALtuesday celebration will be held on the main campus at the Spadoni Park fountain from 2-4 p.m. During the event, which is open to all students, faculty, staff and community members, attendees will have the opportunity to cast their loose change into the fountain. The coins will be collected and added to the #givingTEALtuesday campaign. Chauncey, CCU's mascot, will be on hand for photos, and there will be refreshments and giveaways. The winner of the residence halls giving competition will be announced. The hall that raised the most money for the campaign will enjoy a special meal the next evening in Hicks Dining Hall compliments of Aramark, CCU's food service provider.
Spadoni Park is located between the Lib Jackson Student Union and Wheelwright Auditorium. For more information or to make a donation on Nov. 29 during #givingTEALtuesday, visit coastal.edu/gtt or contact Sarah Craig, associate director of annual giving, at 843-349-2009.
Parking is available for local residents in the loop around Spadoni Park Circle and at Baxley Hall.
