Coastal Carolina names new chief financial officer

Jane Johansen has been named vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer (CFO) at Coastal Carolina University. She will be responsible for overseeing the budgetary and fiscal affairs of the University, including planning, monitoring and managing overall financial plans, policies, programs and operations.

"I am excited that Jane has joined the Coastal Carolina University family and look forward to working with her as she leads this extremely important division of our campus administration," said CCU President David A. DeCenzo. "Her significant experience in many facets of financial management in higher education management will be a definite asset to the University."

Johansen served as director of treasury services at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the past five years. She was also budget director at Clemson University and assistant comptroller and director of investment and tax services at the University of Virginia.

The CFO reports directly to University President David A. DeCenzo on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding. The vice president for finance is also charged with developing and maintaining systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the University and to oversee federal awards and programs.

Johansen will provide both operational and programmatic support to the University and provides leadership over several key financial areas, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, business services, student receivables, procurement, payroll and budget. She will also oversee facilities planning/management, business services (food service, postal services and the bookstore), the Hackler Golf Course at Coastal Carolina University and the athletic grounds.

Johansen earned an MBA in leadership from Liberty University and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Virginia Tech. She is also a certified public accountant.
