Elise Testone and The Art of Soul, a concert highlighting the musical talents of a Coastal Carolina University student, will be presented Wednesday, April 6 at 8:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The concert, which will also feature other student musicians and several faculty musicians, is free and open to the public.

Testone, of Kinnelon, N.J., is a graduating senior in performing arts majoring in voice. She has performed numerous times on and off campus both as solo artist and with musical groups.

Shannon Cook, Chela Carter and Shakira Brockington, all music students, will perform as backup singers. Her backup band will consist of students Steve Memoli on guitar, Drew Jacobs on bass, Kain Naylor on drums, Curtis Muldrow on trumpet, keyboard and piano, and music professor Bill Hamilton on piano.

A string quartet from the Long Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra will also provide instrumental backup (violins, French horns and cello), and dancers will be featured.

Steve Bailey and Tom Yoder, Coastal music instructors, will perform on bass and guitar, and Dan OReilly, teaching associate, will play saxophone and harmonica. Amy Tully will perform on flute, and Kurry Seymour will play timpani and bongo drums; both are CCU music professors.

The program will be a mixture of funky rhythm and blues and soul, spotlighting some of Testones original compositions as well as some familiar tunes and standards.
