Congo Choir from Central Africa to perform at CCU
Celebration! Congo Choir will perform a selection of joyful songs chosen specifically for its North American debut tour. The theme of the tour is “Bomoko,” which means “all are one,” a word that comes from the Lingala language spoken in regions of the Congo.
Opening the show will be Coastal’s Gospel Choir, directed by David Manigo.
“The American South and the Congo both have great choral traditions,” says Oscar Diyabanza Matusongwa, the Congolese choir master. “Coastal Carolina University is offering a rare and exciting opportunity to bring these choral traditions together on the same night.”
The program is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Services and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in conjunction with the Louis G. Gregory Baha’i Institute of Hemingway.
