Coastal names new director of Counseling Services

Jennie Cassidy has been appointed director of Counseling Services at Coastal Carolina University, effective July 5.

As director, Cassidy will supervise a staff of four full-time professionals, one part-time psychiatrist and support personnel. She will collaborate with the new director of Health Services and other university departments to expand the visibility and impact of the Counseling Center.

Cassidy has 13 years of counseling and professional training experience from Appalachian State University where she has served as the associate director and pre-doctoral training director since 1997. She is also a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina. Cassidy earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo, a master's degree from the University of Akron, completed a pre-doctoral psychology internship at Kansas State University, and earned a doctorate in the American Psychological Association accredited program at the University of Akron.

Coastal's Dean of Students Lloyd Holmes has been serving as interim director of the Counseling Center.
