Gospel Sing Out at Coastal to feature gospel groups

February 14, 2007

Coastal Carolina University's annual Gospel Sing Out is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public but tickets are required.

In addition to the Coastal Carolina University Gospel Choir, Mason Temple Youth Choir of Conway, the Francis Marion Gospel Choir, and Endure will be performing.

The Gospel Choir, comprised of more than 30 students, provides a means for students to express and showcase their talents and love of gospel music. The choir, established in 1988, has performed around South Carolina as well as the southeast. Directed by David Manigo, the group placed first in 2005 at the Black Family Expo College Gospel Choir Competition in Florence.

The event is part of Coastal's annual African American Celebration, a series of events designed to highlight the art, history, music and theater of the African American culture. Other events are scheduled through the 2007 spring semester.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or 90 minutes prior to the performance. For more information call 349-2502.
