Teams still needed for 2007 Relay for Life at CCU

March 7, 2007

Coastal Carolina University will co-sponsor its first Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society from 6 p.m. on April 20 until 6 a.m. on April 21 at the university's track.

The overnight event, co-hosted by CCU's Volunteer Services Center and Students Taking Active Responsibility (STAR), is looking for teams to help Coastal reach its $17,500 goal. This is the first year Coastal will be hosting the event.

Relay For Life celebrates survivorship and raises money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

Teams can register for $150 by credit card online, and individuals can register for $10 online or in person by check or cash. There are no fees for cancer survivors, who may register as individuals or on a team.
