April 16, 2007

Architect and internationally renowned design guru Neil Chambers will address "The Art of Green Design" as part of Coastal Carolina University's Earth Day celebration on Wednesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, 246.

Chambers is director of sustainability for the Timbes Architectural Group, overseeing the integration of green design into large projects. The company has offices in South Carolina, Detroit and New York.

He was previously CEO and president of Chambers Design Inc., a company that focused on ecological design with projects ranging from city and master planning to developing renewable energy technologies. His work includes more than 3.3 million square feet of green building space within New York City and around the world. In September 2006, Chambers Design merged with two other companies.

Chambers is an adjunct professor at New York University where he teaches green design and environmental policy in the Gallatin School of Individualized Studies. He is the founder of Green Ground Zero and has given talks throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Chambers is also the host of Built Green TV, a television/webcast series that brings experts within the green industries together for spirited conversations about the future of environmental subjects.
