CCU names new registrar and associate

Dan Lawless, associate registrar at Coastal Carolina University, has been named university registrar.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Lawless joined the Coastal staff in 1995 as a systems administrator in the university's Information Technology Services. He moved to the Office of the Registrar as assistant registrar in 2000 and was named associate registrar in 2004. Prior to Coastal, Lawless worked for six years at General Electric/Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, where he was a software and project engineer on various defense contracts. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Syracuse University and a master's degree in instructional technology from Coastal in 2006.

Shrinivas Chabba has been promoted to the position of associate registrar. Chabba has been employed by Coastal as assistant registrar for technology since August 2004. Originally from Bangalore, India, he moved to the United States in 2000 and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Coastal in 2004, graduating magna cum laude.

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for the management of academic records, coordination of registration activities, as well as other student services.
