August 23, 2007

Gemineye, a self-described "spoken word artist/poet," will perform at Coastal Carolina University on Monday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event, which will include a student Poetry Slam, is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

The poet/performer, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Albany, was a featured artist at the National Association for Campus Activities regional and national conferences. Gemineye has performed throughout the nation for audiences including college students, high school students and many celebrities. His poems address many contemporary issues, including diversity and relationships.

The event is co-sponsored by Coastal Productions Board and CCU's Chapter of the NAACP. Tickets can be picked up at the Wheelwright Box Office on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or prior to the show. For more information, call the Box Office at 349-2502.
