Pianist Ruth Morrow will perform in Coastal Carolina
University's
Wall Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and
open to the public.
The concert, titled "Ragtime II: The Resurgence" will feature
music by Scott Joplin, Glenn Jenks, Billy Joel, Judith Lang Zaimont and
William Albright.
Morrow holds the Dolores P. Bolin and D. Phil and Aurora S. Bolin
Chairs of Piano at Midwestern State University (MSU) in Wichita Falls,
Texas. A founding faculty member of the Indiana University Piano
Academy, Morrow was named Hardin Professor for 1996, which is the
highest honor bestowed upon a MSU faculty member.
Morrow has been the artistic committee chair and has led the
Education Committee for the Wichita Fall Symphony Orchestra. In
addition to serving as soloist and orchestral pianist, she continues to
write the program notes and gives pre-concert talks.
Morrow holds a bachelor's degree from Whitman College, a master of
music from the Eastman School of Music and a doctor of music from
Indiana University. After earning her bachelor's degree, Morrow was
awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for the study of piano in Graz,
Austria.
