Tea & Poetry on Valentine's Day

Poets Nancy Jean Hill and Cliff Saunders will read and discuss their recent work at a special Valentine's Day Tea & Poetry event on Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center, 160 Willbrook Blvd. in Litchfield. The event is free and open to the public.

Hill is a New England native who spends half the year in Surfside Beach. Her poetry has appeared in literary journals, as well as her chapbook "Beryllium Diary" (Pudding House, 2007). Her work explores themes of love, feminism and industrial tragedy that have personally affected her and her family.

Saunders is a senior instructor of English at Coastal Carolina University, where he teaches literature and writing courses. He is the author of six chapbooks, including "This Candescent World" (Runaway Spoon Press, 1995). His poems have appeared in more than 100 periodicals, including The Appalachee Quarterly, Poem, Rolling Stone and South Coast Poetry Journal.

Refreshments and a book signing follow the reading. For more information call 843-349-4030.
