Two poets to speak at CCU's Litchfield Waccamaw Center

Poets Phebe Davidson and Bryan Penberthy will read from their work at a Tea & Poetry session on Thursday, March 13, at 3 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center. Sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), the event is free and open the public.

Davidson is the author of several collections of poetry, including "Fat Moon Rising," "The Drowned Man" and "Song Dog." Her poems and reviews appear in many journals and online publications. She taught literature at the University of South Carolina-Aiken and is the founding editor of Palanquin Press and a staff writer for The Asheville Poetry Review. She lives in Westminster.

Bryan Penberthy's debut collection of poetry, "Lucktown," won the National Poetry Review Book Prize in 2007. His work has appeared in many literary journals, including Crazyhorse, New Orleans Review, Bat City Review and Poetry International, as well as online at Blackbird, Verse Daily and Poetry Daily. He taught at Purdue University, at Trident Technical College, andat the Charleston Air Force Base through the City Colleges of Chicago's Programs for the Military. He lives in Charleston where he works for a nonprofit organization.
