Coastal Carolina University student Victoria Livinski has been awarded a $23,000 ambassadorial scholarship by the Rotary Foundation for graduate study abroad.

Livinski, a senior studying economics, placed number one among the scholarship nominees from the Rotary District. Jade Guilbeau, a junior studying bioilogy, will be the first alternate to be selected if one of the primary selectees decide not to accept the scholarship award.

"Victoria's achievement is an outstanding example of the high quality of our Wall Fellows and the product of the Wall College of Business's expanding focus in global business and management education," said Henry Lowenstein, dean of the college.

Gen. Robert H. Reed, chairman of the International Scholarship Committee of the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach, cited Livinski's outstanding academic record, her essays and her poise and thoughtful answers before the committee.

Livinski, a native of the Republic of Moldova, is a member of the Wall Fellows honors and leadership development program in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. She participated in the 2006 Study Abroad in Business program, which included Paris, Germany and Slovakia. In April 2007, she presented at the Russian State Social University's Science Week Conference in Moscow. She also traveled to Mainz, Germany, for the Consortium of International Double Degrees' 2007 International Student Conference as part of the Wall Fellows program. In December 2007, she completed a semester abroad at the Ecole Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur (ESCE) in France.

Llivinski is founder and current vice president of the Economics Club at the Wall College, a member of Phi Eta Sigma (freshman honor society), Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership honor society) and Beta Gamma Sigma (international honor society for business professionals).

Livinski has completed her course work toward a degree in economics and expects to graduate in December 2008 after completing her internship in the mergers and acquisitions department at Citigroup in Warren, N.J. She plans to continue her education in a Ph.D. program in economics.
