Spanish for the workplace offered through OLLI

Classes in occupational Spanish and cross-cultural training are being offered by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Coastal Carolina University beginning this month. Command Spanish is the leading provider of foreign language training for employers and those in the workplace. OLLI is the Grand Strand's official registered provider of the programs, which require no prior knowledge of Spanish.

Taught by two native-speaking instructors, Alex and Susana Russell, two specific workplace courses are scheduled for mid-October. Each two-hour class meets twice a week for seven weeks and costs $110, which includes a printed text and CDs for practicing after the course.

Survival Spanish for Hotel and Motel Staff is offered in Myrtle Beach at Webster University on Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 13 to Nov. 3, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Learn the basic Spanish needed to hire and retain Spanish-speaking employees in the hospitality field. This course will teach the basics to help promote better communication, safety and a more efficient work environment.

Survival Spanish for Physicians' Offices and Hospital Staff is offered at the Georgetown Higher Education Center, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 14 to Nov. 4, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. This course was developed in consultation with practicing physicians, office nurses and medical office managers. Learn to communicate with patients for tasks including registration, payment, history, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
