Bassist Steve Bailey to perform at Coastal Carolina University

Internationally acclaimed bassist Steve Bailey will perform at Coastal Carolina University on Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Tickets are $9 general admission; seniors and alumni, $7; Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) students, one free ticket per valid ID; Coastal Carolina University and HGTC faculty and staff, two free tickets per valid ID; teens and children, free with ticket.

Bailey, the University's artist-in-residence, will perform a variety of music, including selections from his latest CD, So Low... Solo. The program, which will be different each night, also may include excerpts from Bailey's new symphonic work for orchestra and bass.

Bailey is a world-renowned bassist who was twice named Bass Player of the Year runnerup by Bass Player Magazine, and has released two solo CDs. He was a faculty member at the Bass Institute of Technology for 10 years and is currently on the advisory board and a columnist for Bass Player Magazine. Along with Victor Wooten, he co-founded Bass Extremes, the cutting edge two bass group, and has released numerous books and videos on bass performance as well as a signature bass with Fender. Bailey has recorded and toured with many artists, including the Rippingtons, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Jethro Tull, and Larry Carlton.
