Spring percussion concert coming up

Coastal Carolina University's Spring Percussion concert, titled "Creative Beginnings, coloring outside the lines" is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30 in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free, but tickets are required.

"Creative Beginnings, coloring outside the lines" will feature several unique student compositions. The University Percussion Ensemble, Taiko Ensembles, Steel Band and other student percussion ensembles will perform.

The concert will highlight rhythms from around the globe featuring the sounds and instruments of the Americas, the Caribbean Islands and Africa.

The performance will be under the direction of Kurry Seymour, University assistant band director. Seymour instructs the percussion studio, percussion methods, the Spirit of the Chanticleer percussion section, and the Epiphany indoor percussion ensemble. He holds a master of music degree in percussion performance from West Virginia University.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or prior to the performance. For more information call 843-349-2502.
