Campus Salvage is under way

May 4, 2009

During this week, May 4 to 9, the second annual Campus Salvage will be taking place at Waccamaw and Santee Halls. The goal of Campus Salvage is to take items that would otherwise be thrown away (nonperishable food, bedding, electronics, clothes, containers, etc.) and efficiently disperse these goods.

The first phase will be the collection of the items during finals week. All nonperishable food items and clothing will be donated to a charity while the other items will be sorted and stored over the summer. The drop-off locations will be at Waccamaw and Santee halls during the following hours:

Monday to Wednesday: noon to 6 p.m.

Thursday and Friday: 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

Saturday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During all other hours, students can drop off their items in Waccamaw front lounge or Santee first floor lounge.

The second phase is the sell-back, which takes place during move-in in August. The items collected will be available for resell to incoming students at an affordable price. All proceeds will go to student organizations and the Campus and Community Sustainability Initiative, which will use the proceeds to help fund environmental student programs on campus.
